Kim Thistlewaite has served on the Advisory Committee for SGNO for the past 2 years and has been an active member since March of 2021. Kim earned her ADN from the University of Maine at Augusta in Augusta, Maine in 1998 and then in 2011 she obtained Oncology Certification from the Oncology Nursing Society. Kim then went on to receive a BSN from St. Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine in 2017. She has spent the majority of her nursing career specializing in oncology. She has 20 years of hematology/oncology experience and 4 years of Gynecologic Oncology experience.
From 2009-2010 Kim served as Vice President of Lakes Region Oncology Nursing Society Chapter. She previously held a leadership role for Hem/Onc, Breast Health and Infusion Therapy Services at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center for 4 years before transferring back to patient care. Kim is currently an RN at Maine Medical Partners Gynecologic Oncology Practice in Scarborough, Maine. Within Mainehealth, she is one of a handful of nurses who have reached the highest level (level IV) on the Nursing professional development pathway, achieving this within just 4 years of being there. Kim enjoys researching best practices for patient education and quality improvement and strives to find new ways to implement these to enhance overall care for her patients.
